Boney Quits Race Against Morgan Carroll

  • by: Colorado Pols

Democratic Rep. Morgan Carroll is expected to be one of the Republicans’ top targets in 2006…but now they’ll have to find somebody to run against her.

Republican Brian Boney today informed his supporters that he was withdrawing from the race for personal and professional reasons. Boney had an odd background, but he was considered to be a relatively strong challenger to Carroll. This may not be good news for Republicans who are already having a tough time in 2006 unless they have a stronger candidate than Boney in mind.

As for us? We’re just disappointed we can’t use the word “Boney” anymore.

Dear friend,

Recent changes in my family responsibilities and professional circumstances have forced me to end my campaign for the Colorado House of Representatives. These circumstances were not an issue when I decided to become a candidate back in July. However, sometimes life throws challenges at you that you could not have expected or predicted.

Because these issues keep me from guaranteeing that I will be able to devote the time and energy required of a successful campaign, not to mention the attention required of a state representative, I cannot in good conscience continue a campaign I may not be able to finish.

Although I will no longer be a candidate, I will continue to do what I can to help the Colorado Republican Party win back majorities in the General Assembly and to see another Republican become governor. I look forward to assisting those candidates who seek to improve public education in Colorado, and I will do everything I can to see House District 36 in Republican hands.

I thank those who have lent support to my campaign. Without your support I would not have even considered becoming a candidate. I regret that I am unable to see your support through to the end. I especially thank my stellar campaign manager, Dawn Greenidge, whose support and advice benefited me greatly.

Again thank you for your support during my brief campaign. I greatly
appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Brian R. Boney
Former candidate for House District 36

  1. IS Booney the guy that is like six five and over 300 lbs?  (okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration, but the really big guy that’s been showing up at all the rep events?)

Just curious if I’m thinking of the same guy or not.

  2. No candidate against Benefield
No candidate against Morgan. I guess Morgan has a bigger set of balls than the imported gun slinger from Texas that Stengel was counting on.
Raney Johnson likely to face an ugly primary.
Not shaping up as a good year for the House Republicans after all

  3. Corry is a minion of Jon Caldara.  Benefield would crush her.  Plus Corry’s husband, attorney Robert Corry, is big in the legalize marijuana movement that Republicans love to hate.

  4. Did you hear the story about Robert Corry pointing a shotgun at a bunch of people in DC back in the 1990s? That’s why he doesn’t work for that Florida congressman anymore. That’s why Jessica’s the one running for whatever and not him.

The Corrys are about as creepy as they get.

  5. Sue Windels beat the shit out of Corry, and so would Benefield. Corry should move to El Paso County if she wants to run for something. She’s way too crazy right wing to run in north jefferson County.

  6. Mid-Week DemNotes Potpurri:  “Democratic Voices,” Morgan Carroll and House Parties

There are several things to cover — all in one post today.
Last night, I appeared on the Colorado Springs cable-access show “Democratic Voices,” produced by the 5th Congressional District Democratic Party.  The show is a weekly show…

  7. Not only that but Robert Corry has been accused of sexual assault in Arvada, he works as a lawyer in his father-in-law’s firm, guess it runs in the family.
